C4C Update

YOU can make a difference in the life of a student or teacher by giving a few hours each week. Please consider joining the team of amazing volunteers with Congregations for Children (C4C). There are opportunities to share your time and talent at Wahl Coates School in a variety of ways.

  • The Captain’s Crew luncheon, held monthly in the Fellowship Hall of St. James, honors one student per classroom who has been nominated by their fellow students to attend a pizza luncheon and hear a motivational speaker. Volunteers help set up, serve pizza, and interact with the children. Dates are this Friday, October 19, as well as December 14, January 25, February 22, March 22, April 12, and May 24. The event is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Bicycle Safety Training needs two to three volunteers per training session. The sessions will be every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from October 30 through November 20 from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. Volunteers help the coach set up a bicycle course and teach bicycle safety.
  • The Wahl Coates media coordinator needs volunteer help with the school Book Fair from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on November 13, 14, and 15. Volunteers will assist children in finding and purchasing books.
  • Volunteers are also requested to work in the classrooms by reading, tutoring, or mentoring students, assisting teachers in the classroom, or by doing office work. Here are specific grade-level requests:      * 2nd grade – read with students, help in math, and file papers      * 5th  grade – read with students      * Kindergarten – paperwork jobs for an afternoon volunteer
