Children’s Christmas Eve Service

Children’s Christmas Eve Service

Especially “For” and “By” the Children
3:00 pm on December 24th in the Christian Life Ministries Center (CLMC)
The majority of this service is led by the children. That’s where we need your help!
We need “actors” to portray on stage the parts of Mary, Joseph, the Star, the Angel Gabriel, the Lead Shepherds, and the 3 Wise Men. (These are non-speaking roles). We also need children who can stand in front of the congregation and be readers who tell the Christmas story. In addition to these parts, we will need ushers, an acolyte, and a cross-bearer.
If your child/ren are interested in participating in one of the parts listed above, please email Molly at: by Sunday, December 9. If we have more than one child interested in a particular part, names will be drawn from a hat. We will have rehearsal on Sunday, December 23 at 4:00pm in the CLMC.
ALL children are invited to participate in the service, even if they are not one of the main parts. Children can come dressed as sheep, shepherds, or angels and come forward to sit on the risers during the service at the appropriate time. This is a great way to get some of our youngest kids involved in the program! This is BY FAR, our favorite part of this service! We will have some costumes available at the church that day, but homemade costumes are welcome and encouraged! A bathrobe serves as a great shepherd costume, sheep can dress in all white with a black nose and gloves for hoofs, and angels can be as simple as a pair of wings and a halo over a Christmas dress! No need to go out and buy anything. Be creative and work with what you have at home!

There will be no childcare during this service, as this is a service for the children. It will be noisy, but that’s how Jesus would want it! 😇

Easy costume suggestions: Shepherd – A bathrobe and a hand towel tied over the head. Sheep – White shirt and pants with black socks on hands and feet.  Head band with felt ear attached.

Angel – White dress or a pillowcase with head and arm holes cut out with a gold or silver garland halo placed on the head.

Family Worship

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” (Matthew 19:14)
Beginning in October, we are starting something new! The FIRST Sunday of every month will be Family Worship. On these first Sundays, we will not offer Children’s Chapel or Childcare for school-age children during the worship services. Instead, we are excited to have them join us, share communion with us, and worship with the congregation! Nursery will still be provided for infants-4 year olds, and we will have Sunday school classes as usual for all ages during the Living Water hour.

We have moved recently!  The Children”s Library is now located in Room 32 in the Main Building.

Come by and visit the library!  Click on “read the rest” below to get a listing of the resources available in the Children’s Library.
