Walking With Jesus – 2017 Lenten Devotional Guide

Lent is our preparation time for Easter — the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ. Will you write a devotion for “A Daily Devotional Guide for Lent” to help the members of St. James prepare for Easter?

The guidelines are simple and can be found at the Information Booths at the church, or download one here.  The deadline to submit your devotion is Friday, February 10th.

To participate, please email Chris Garcia at christian.garciapubco@gmail.com.

Wednesday, January 25, 2017

St. James is starting a ministry of fun, fellowship, and exploration. You are invited to join us for our first day trip to Washington, NC to visit the North Carolina Estuarium. What is an Estuarium you ask? It’s a place where you can explore the science, art, nature and history of the place where the rivers meet the sea—in this case at the Pamlico/Tar River estuary. We will stop for lunch in downtown Washington and walk the waterfront. We will leave St. James at 9:30 am and return by 2:30 pm.

Cost for the Estuarium is $5 for Adults / $3 for  Children.  Lunch is not provided.

January 25th is a teacher workday so kids, teens, young adults, adults, and seniors are invited. You must register because space is limited.

Scott and Anne Heritage are coordinating this new program. It will be a great opportunity to meet church members of all ages in a relaxed, fun way. Call the church office at 752-6154 to sign up for the first St. James Adventure!

Confirmation 2017

It’s our belief that Jesus mentored his disciples in a way of life… And it’s our wish to see our young people nurtured and discipled through a strong, ongoing mentoring relationship.

Registration packets are now available – click here to download your copy.

Registrations are due by Friday, January 27, 2017.  If you have questions or concerns about the Confirmation preparation process, please contact Ryan Dunn, Youth Director, at 252-752-6154 or ryan@stjconnect.org.

Reception for the Dunn Family

There will be a reception for Ryan, Gina, and Braden Dunn on Sunday, February 19th, 2:00 – 4:00 pm. We will celebrate their 8 years of ministry with us at St. James UMC and wish Ryan, Gina, and Braden well as they begin their new life in Nashville, TN.

If you would like to contribute to a love offering for the Dunns, please send it to the church office before Tuesday, Feb 14th.   (Note that your donation is a gift to the Dunns, not a gift to the church.  Therefore the donation will not be tax deductible.)

A Note from Ryan

On January 1st, it was announced that Ryan, Gina, and Braden would be moving to the Nashville, TN area.  Read more about his call and the adventure that God has opened for the Dunns.

Vidant Home Health and Hospice Volunteer Training

Each day our Vidant volunteers help deliver the high-quality, compassionate care our patients and their families deserve. Many volunteer because they want to give back to their community, believe in the mission of Hospice, or have personally experienced the support of hospice care with a friend or relative at the end of life. Would you be interested in becoming a volunteer?

As a volunteer, you will be able to give back to your community in a gratifying, intellectually stimulating, and emotionally meaningful way. Volunteers are able to determine how much time they give each week, typically up to 2-4 hours or more depending on your personal preference and availability.  The 16 hour training is especially designed to prepare Volunteers to perform this vital service. All training is provided free of charge by Vidant Home Health and Hospice Volunteer Coordinator.

Our next Volunteer Training is Monday, February 20, 9am-4pm, and Tuesday, February 21, 9am-3pm. It will be at Vidant Home Health and Hospice, Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice, 920 Wellness Dr., Greenville, NC 27834.  Click here to download a flyer.

For more information or to register please contact Angelina Brittle by phone at 252-847-1236, or by email at Angelina.brittle@vidanthealth.com
