This Week at

“Follow Jesus … Love Others … Change the World”

Today is the  National Day of Prayer.

We have a spiritual responsibility to pray – to pray to our Father in Heaven and to pray for each other (1 Timothy 2:1-2). We also have a civic responsibility to join together in prayer for our nation, our cities/towns, our communities, our families, and our homes.

The St. James Prayer Ministry invites you to join us in the chapel this evening at 7:00 pm to join our voices in prayer and praise of our Lord as a part of our National Day of Prayer celebration.

Did you know that St. James had a facebook group?

The next St James Adventurers trip will be Saturday, May 20th. We will go to the Sylvan Heights Bird Sanctuary, leaving the church at 9:30 am. Bring a bag lunch and a drink (the park does sell water and Gatorade). We will return around 2:00 pm.

The cost to the park is as follows Adults (ages 13 to 61): $11,
Seniors (ages 62+): $10  /  Children (ages 3 to 12): $8  /  Children 2 and under: Free
There is a $5 per person charge for the use of the van. $10 max per family.

You may register by clicking here or by calling Anne or Scott Heritage at 756-5838.
Please sign up by May 17″.

The St. James Adventurers is a new multi-generational ministry that coordinates events/trips to nearby locations where we can explore the wonders of God’s creation.

Come join us on our next trip!

All the women of St. James are invited to join the United Methodist Women for UMW’s annual May Dinner on Monday, May 8th at 6:30 in the Fellowship Hall.
Our program will be a Hymn Sing under the direction of Frances Cain. Please come bring covered dish to share and enjoy fun and fellowship with the women of St. James. Child care will be available.

The special Mother’s Day Offering supports our Benevolent Care Annual Fund and provides financial and personal resources for residents who can no longer fully pay their way. In many cases these residents have no other means of support and often no family. It takes $100 to subsidize one day of care for benevolent residents.

There will be special envelopes available at the church for this offering on Sunday, May 14th. Or you may indicate “Mother’s Day Offering” on your check memo line. By supporting this fund you can make a difference in the lives of these residents.

It’s time to celebrate the joining of the newest members into the St. James family!

Everyone is invited to this special worship service on
Sunday, May 21st at 4 p.m.
in the Christian Life Ministries Center to celebrate our new Confirmands!

Following the service we will gather for a covered dish meal. Please bring a dish to share that would feed your family plus one. Meat and drinks will be provided by St. James.

Come and be a part of the family of God by welcoming our newest members.

Thanks to all our donors, sponsors, and tireless workers Friday and Saturday, St James team is currently the top fundraiser with over $28,000+ !!!

We have a team chasing us hard!  We can turn in money until August 1st for this year’s relay.  Thanks for all the support of Relay for Life and the fight against Cancer!

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your thoughtful donation. This will help us continue to provide temporary housing for homeless families and individuals in the community.
Your generosity is overwhelming. We thank you very much for helping us and for having faith in our mission.

Executive Director

(Community Crossroads Center (formerly the Greenville Homeless Shelter) was our Lenten Mission Focus for this year. Our collection amounted to $9,499.)

Save the Date!

Saturday, June 24th at 5:00 pm
Cook-out and reception to honor

Johnny and Susan Branch

for their years of ministry with St. James and to wish them well in retirement.

Dear Church Family,

As we celebrate with Johnny his 42 years of active ministry and approaching retirement, I would like to ask you to prayerfully consider making a love offering so that we can provide Johnny with a small token of appreciation for all he has done for St. James and God’s kingdom through the years. If you feel led, please designate this as “Johnny Love Offering” on the memo line of your check and place in the offering plate, or drop it by the church office by the end of May. Thank you for your consideration.

May God Bless.

Tim Barrett, SPRC Chair
