“Follow Jesus … Love Others … Change the World”

Do you struggle finding a quiet time with God?

Are your looking for a safe, holy place away from the “busy-ness” of life?

Are you seeking that “still small voice” of God?

Then you will appreciate our evening prayers service, which takes place the first Sunday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel. The service includes music, prayer, and a time of guided meditation with a scripture passage. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal. Our next service is this Sunday, August 6th at 6:30 pm.

For more information, contact Joyce Day at joyce@stjconnect.org or 752-6154.

“just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ”

(1 Corinthians 12:12)

Celebrate together, renew friendships, and discover new friends and opportunities at the St. James fall kick-off event.

Save the Date – Wednesday, August 30th, 5:30-7:30 pm

There will be a covered dish meal at 5:30 pm.  Chicken and drinks will be supplied by the church.  Bring a dish to share!

There will be music from many of our talented musical groups, testimonies, and games and fun for the children!

We are … better together!

Your influence matters.
There are still a few more seats at the 2017 Global Leadership Summit on August 10-11!  If you are a business person, a committee chair, a family member, or in local government (actually, no matter what you are or do) your influence matters!   At the Summit we will hear from an amazing list of speakers that will provide practical tools and inspiration to make a difference right where you are!

Sunday mornings offer a wonderful opportunity for folks of all ages to spend time in Bible study and discussion through our Living Water classes. Our adult classes offer a wide range of topics from books of the Bible to how to live out your Christian faith each day. Two of our groups are starting new studies.

Life Enrichment, which meets in Room 310, will be studying God Unbound, a book about Paul’s letter to the Galatians, written by Elaine Heath from Duke University. She shows us how Paul’s teachings can help us today to boldly follow the Holy Spirit’s leadership beyond buildings and programs to join what Jesus is doing in the world.

The Seekers meet in Room 311 and are starting Max Lucado’s book, Outlive Your Live. God has a purpose for us all and that purpose is to fulfill God’s mission of active love in the world. Our lives are meant to reflect the redeeming power of God’s love as we feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and visit the lonely. If you are looking for a way to bring more meaning to your life, you won’t want to miss this study.

The Women On the Way (WOW) group invites the ladies of St. James to join them for their fall book study, “A Perfect Mess” by Lisa Harper. Through this liberating look at how God adores and transforms imperfect people, Bible teacher Lisa Harper weaves poignant stories of her own personal foibles with a fresh take on selected Psalms to reveal a loving Father who remains your greatest champion even when you don’t feel anywhere close to holy.  Come join us! Sundays at 10:00 am. Room 306.

St. James Adventurers, We have an opportunity to go to the ECU -James Madison football game for JUST $15.00 a ticket. The game is Saturday, September 2 at 6:00 pm.

We will try to meet at 4:00 pm at the church for our own tail-gating party and then head over to the stadium for kick-off. We will arrange transportation as we find out how many of us are going.

If you are interested simply sign-up and pay the church office by August 15. You can sign up by calling Dana at 752-6154 or by clicking the button below. If you sign up please pay by Aug 15 to ensure you get a ticket.

Come join us on our next trip!

Dear Friends of CareNet Counseling East,

Your gifts of $3,700 have helped enable us to provide services to hurting, wounded individuals, individuals suffering from depression and anxiety, those struggling with loss and unmet dreams, even those whose relationship are unhealthy and challenging. Your partnership helps us minister to the emotional and spiritual needs of those we serve.

We cannot, we do not, do our work alone. Thank you for walking alongside us.

As a volunteer, you will be able to give back to the community, in an emotionally rewarding way.

Opportunities include:

  • Direct Support: Offering Companionship: Friendly visits to provide some special attention, a listening ear, and a comforting presence.
  • Respite Care: Respite care is an opportunity for the caregiver to have a break and still be assured their loved one is safe.
  • Indirect Support: Providing support in our offices or at the Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice.

Training is provided. To schedule a presentation about our volunteer program or to sign up as a Vidant Home Health and Hospice Volunteer please contact Angelina Brittle at 252-847-1236 or email Angelina.brittle@vidanthealth.com.
