Nick Pierle

Nick Pierle started with our choir last spring, and we welcome him back to our St James family.  He’s easy to recognize as the tenor with the smile that lights up the room.  A Master’s student in Choral Conducting, Vocal Performance and Pedagogy, Nick is slated to graduate in December 2018. He is currently singing with the ECU Chamber Singers and the Greenville Choral Society, as well as singing the role of The Lord Chancellor in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe for November 4th. Lastly, he will be conducting the Collegiate Choir in both the spring and fall semesters. After graduation, Nick hopes to attend a doctoral program and continue to teach voice in a private studio. His ideal job would be performing opera, as well as working at a university as a voice instructor.  He also wants to travel the world and experience different cultures around the world. He enjoys music, because it is an international language that everyone can understand no matter what part of the world they’re from; it brings people together. His personal favorites are Don Giovanni by Mozart or Smetana’s Ma Vlast.

Nick is originally from Waxhaw, NC.  While in high school, Nick participated in the choir and theatre programs. His greatest accomplishment, though, was earning a black belt in karate; the training process took about 6 years for completion. Nick claims to have learned a lot about himself throughout this training which instilled core values such as respect, commitment, determination, and courage. He has been consistently supported by his mother, who is the strongest person he knows.

Nick selected ECU because of the welcoming environment of the School of Music and the one-on-one attention he knew he would receive in class. He chose to sing with us at St James to enjoy the communal aspect of the ensemble. He says he is looking forward to working with and getting to know the ensemble. “You all are a special group and I’m looking forward to joining the St. James family!”  Nick’s greatest hope is to find happiness and to share it with others. Seems to us, you are well on your way!  Again, welcome!
