Antidotes for the Out-of-Control Life*

out-of-control

A Small Group Study by the Bridge Builders,
from 6:10 to 7:45 PM on Wednesday Evenings, from March 8th through March 29th.

Are you busy all the time?

Do you find yourself exhausted at the end of most weeks?

Ever feel overwhelmed by the expectations and obligations in your life?

It may surprise you that the Bible offers relevant answers that have the power to change your life. This 4 week small group study is based on the sermon series of this Title*, presented  by Rev. Adam Hamilton of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection, Leawood, Kansas during January of 2011. This study (videos, discussions, scripture)  is designed to help you find your own “Antidotes for the Out-of-Control Life”.

He Chose the Nails – Lenten Study

Every gift from God reveals his love, but no gift reveals his love more than the gift of the cross. The hill of the cross is rich with the gifts of God’s grace.

In this five-session video Bible study, Max Lucado explores the many gifts Christ provided to us at his crucifixion. These include not only the gift of the cross, but also the gift of the thorns that pierced his brow, the nails that tore his flesh and the seamless robe that he removed for us. The empty tomb is where he forever defeated sin and death.

So as we unwrap these gifts, we need to pause and listen for his voice. And as we do, perhaps we will hear him whisper, “I did it just for you.”
Join Wednesday Women
March 15-April 12, 2017, 6:15-7:45 pm (after TGIW dinner) for Max Lucado’s Lenten study, He Chose Nails.

Truth Seekers

We live in a culture where fear is used to manipulate us and even, in some ways, to control us. When we are taught to fear those who are different from us–whether in appearance, language, religion, political stance, or whatever–we begin to move away from the teachings of Christ who taught us to love one another, including our enemies. We stop listening to one another and build walls instead of bridges.

This study by William Willimon will help us discern what is the Christ-like way to respond to others and how to live that out in a world that is hostile to Christ’s teachings on love.

We hope you will join us Thursdays, 9:30-11:00 a.m. in Room 24 beginning March 16 for this 5-week study. For more information, contact Joyce Day at 252-752-6154 or joyce@stjconnect.org.

Lenten Study – Questions Jesus Asks Us

Jesus used questions to help others grow in faith, see truth more clearly, and move toward wholeness. Let Jesus ask these same questions of you throughout this season of Lent.

This study group will meet on Wednesdays, 1:00-2:00 p.m., (location to be determined) beginning March 1

(Ash Wednesday). We will be exploring these questions from Jesus:

March 1      What are you looking for? (John 1:35-32)
March 8      Who do you say I am? (Matthew 16:13-23; Mark 8:27-33; Luke 9:18-22)
March 15      Do you want to get well? (John 5:2-9)
March 22      Why are you crying? (John 20:11-18)

March 29      Do you understand what I have done to you? (John 13:1-20)
April 5      Do you love me? (John 21:15-19)
