UMW is the group of women in each congregation organized for mission. Each local and district unit relates directly to district
and conference organizations of UMW and to the
Women’s Division of the General Board of Global Ministries.

Happy 150th Birthday UMW!

Can you believe it?  More than 800,000 United Methodist Women are celebrating their 150th birthday this year.  Only 8 women in Boston, MA on Mar. 23, 1869 actually gave birth to the Woman’s Foreign Missionary Society when they took action. They saw a dramatic need for health care and educational opportunities for women in India and DID SOMETHING ABOUT IT!! Wouldn’t they be surprised at how we’ve grown?
Won’t YOU please come and help us celebrate? There are 5 circles to choose from, all meeting at various times to appeal to varying schedules. This past year we welcomed 9 new members. We’d love to welcome you! Maybe we can aim for 150 new members!
For information please call or email:  Judy Neufer 570-437-9046 /

UMW Collection Items

The UMW is very appreciative of the soup labels collected the past few years, but as of right now we will no longer be collecting them. We will continue to collect the BOX TOPS for EDUCATION for the local schools, as well as eye glasses for the Lions Club. These items may be left in the Parlor.
If you give the box tops directly to a school, please submit the number so we can include yours on our Annual Report. Contact Judy Gray at 756-0907 for information.

How to Join UMW

Any woman is invited to join UMW. You don’t have to be a member of St. James UMC to attend a circle or join UMW. To join, all you have to do is attend a circle meeting. Information on meeting times and locations is found on the UMW website page. For additional information on joining or questions about circle activities and events, please contact Emily Heritage (321-1319) or Erin Passailaigue (347-8010).
