RENEW Sermon/TGIW Series

Sunday Mornings This Fall

This fall at St. James UMC the pastors will preach a series of sermons centered on what it means to RENEW as we move forward into an uncertain future. The congregation will have the opportunity to discuss the sermons the following Wednesday evenings during TGIW.

The sermons on RENEW will discuss how to RENEW means to Re-Set, Re-Think, Re-Send, Re-Member, and Re-Commit. Each message and theme are tied to our core values at St. James: that we are devoted, rooted, united, and missional. All messages are grounded in Scripture.

Wednesdays until Advent: TGIW Program Beginning Sept. 15

Then, in the following week’s TGIW (Thank God It’s Wednesday) program, the worship message will be discussed, first in a large group presentation, followed by small group breakout sessions. Due to COVID restrictions passed by the Board of Trustees, we will not have a TGIW meal. But we can still gather together and grow as a community of faith!

So, at 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday, folks will gather in the Sanctuary. For ten to fifteen minutes, the preachers from the previous Sunday will dialogue and present topics to be discussed in the small group sessions. The large-group session is open to all ages and will be live streamed. At about 6:45, the small groups will meet—either safely in person (masked are encouraged and groups will include no more than 15 people) in a classroom or online on Zoom. In these small groups, we will talk about the ideas raised in the large group session. There will be small groups for children and youth (see survey below).

The membership of each small group will be randomly assigned. To sign up for this new TGIW program, click HERE (in-person). Click HERE for virtual.

We need folks to volunteer to facilitate the small groups. Please indicate your preference in working online or in person. We will not have any hybrid small groups that combine Zoom and in-person discussion. To volunteer to facilitate small group discussion, click HERE.
