January 2023, Natalie Babbit’s Tuck Everlasting
What if you could sip from a spring that would make you live forever? Would you do it? That’s the question at the heart of the story. Doomed or blessed with eternal life after drinking from a spring, the Tuck family wanders about trying to live as inconspicuously as they can. When ten-year-old Winnie Foster finds their secret, the Tucks take her home and explain what living forever at one age encompasses. Complications arise when Winnie is followed by a stranger who wants to market the spring water. Tuck Everlasting won the 1976 Christopher Award as best book for young people and ALA Notable Book.
