Rev. Laura Goldenbaum-Yang

Pastor of Youth and Young Adults

I spent my childhood and youth in Massachusetts where my family attended a wonderful United Methodist Church that my parents still attend.

My undergraduate degree is Environmental Geology from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, where I was active in the Wesley Foundation campus ministry.  My experience as a college student in Wesley helps shape and inform me as I work with college students at St. James and serve on the board of the Greenville Wesley Foundation.

I have a Master’s in Divinity from Drew Theological School in Madison, NJ.  My studies at Drew included elective classes in camp and retreat ministry with United Methodist camp leaders from across the country.

My husband, Daewon, and I moved to North Carolina from New York in 2012 when I began working at Camp Don Lee Camp and Retreat Center in Arapahoe, NC, fulfilling a dream of working fulltime in camp ministry.

Daewon and I have two inquisitive and energetic young children, Sophia and Drew.  Many of our hobbies now involve games, crafts, and field trips with them, but we also enjoy playing ultimate frisbee and enjoying good meals.

My family and I are enjoying St. James and Greenville.  As the Pastor of Youth and Young Adults, I have the joy of leading and learning from the young people of St. James.
