Part 2 of Biblical Justice (New Date)

7:00 PM

New Class Day for Pastor Joyce’s Class: Mondays at 7 p.m.

Pastor Joyce’s class on Biblical Justice will begin its second part on June 3.
The class now meets at 7 p.m. on Monday evenings in Joyce’s office.

Each part of the class stands on its own. You can register for any or all parts of the class HERE.

In Part 2, class members will pay close attention to the concept of restorative justice:

·        What restorative justice is and what it is not

·        The principles of restorative justice

·        Practicing restorative justice

·        How to move forward into restorative justice

Pastor Joyce offers this information as context for her class:

Understanding biblical justice is harder than you might think.
What may seem like justice for one person or group turns out to create injustice for others.

The Bible teaches us that for God justice is obtained through the gift of liberation.
We see this in the two foundational stories of the Scriptures:
the exodus from Egypt, in which God removed the people from a situation of oppression and slavery,
and the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, in which God gave to all the gift of freedom from sin and death.

Where have you seen evidence of oppression in our community, our nation, and our world?

Where have you seen people caught up in the power of sin and death?

How is God working to bring liberation to those people and in those places?

How are you working with God to help it happen?

Part 3 of Biblical Justice, which begins on July 1, will cover race and restorative justice in a seven-week session.
