Evaluation Meeting Held

The St. James UMC Spring Fling Committee wrapped up this year’s event with an evaluation meeting Tuesday night. Here are the highlights:

  • The Day of Service on April 6 featured the work of 122 St. James volunteers working for 13 non-profits in Pitt and Greene Counties.

There were many other volunteers working that day: the kitchen crew that fed two meals to the volunteers and representatives of the non-profit groups; the tech crew that ran the sound and lights in the CLMC and completed a video of the morning’s activities in time for lunch; the photography crew that took photos.

  • Spring Fling had gross revenue of $20,437.00 on April 27 from the Chicken Dinners Sale, donations, the Book Sale, Sweet and Savory Food to Go, the Dunking Booth, and the Tent Yard Sale.
  • The Committee voted to use $14,750.00 for Spring Fling grants to eight different non-profit organizations: Building Hope, Cancer Services of Eastern NC, ECU Office of Global Affairs, Greenville Learning Center; Little Willie Center; Greenville Community Garden; Operation Sunshine, Third Street Education Center.
  • The Committee voted to have the tent again next year, with a longer period for trailers to be here so folks will have longer time to drop off donations.
  • Possible additions to next year’s Spring Fling were discussed by the Committee:

a silent auction; a plant sale; adding furniture, holiday decor, and sporting goods to the tent; roasting a pig and selling premium plates of barbecue along with the chicken dinners; adding a concession stand for drinks and light snacks.

  • The Committee confirmed next year’s Spring Fling dates of April 5, 2025, for the Day of Service and April 26, 2025, for Spring Fling.
